About Little Pines

A calm, welcoming place where children are understood and supported, and where families feel like partners in the process.

Our mission

To provide compassionate, evidence-based occupational therapy that empowers children to reach their fullest potential, while supporting and educating the families who love them.

Every child deserves access to quality therapy in a welcoming environment where they feel safe, valued, and capable of growth. Our goal is not simply to teach skills. We strive to build confidence, foster independence, and help children take part more successfully in the everyday activities that matter most.

Our story

Little Pines Pediatric Therapy was founded out of a passion for helping children and families navigate developmental challenges with confidence and hope.

After years of working with children in homes, schools, and clinics, we saw a growing need for high-quality pediatric therapy in Bastrop County. Families were traveling long distances or waiting months for services. We believed children deserved better.

Little Pines was created to provide personalized, relationship-driven care where every child is treated as an individual, not just a diagnosis. Our approach emphasizes family involvement, practical strategies, meaningful goals, and therapy that translates into everyday life.

Where we're headed

Our vision is to become the leading pediatric therapy provider in Bastrop County and the surrounding communities by delivering exceptional, family-centered care that combines clinical excellence with genuine compassion.

We picture a community where every child, regardless of diagnosis or circumstance, has access to high-quality therapy close to home. As Little Pines grows, we hope to expand services, build relationships with physicians, schools, and community organizations, and create opportunities for children of all abilities to participate fully in everyday life.

Families are part of the team

We believe parents and caregivers are the most important members of a child's therapy team.

That isn't a nice sentiment we put on a wall. It changes how therapy actually runs here. You know your child better than anyone in the building. You know what mornings look like, which transitions fall apart, and what they're proud of. We build goals around that.

So we'll ask you a lot of questions, and we want yours in return. Parent participation is welcomed in sessions, especially during evaluations. We'll tell you what we're working on and why, share strategies you can use at home, and talk through progress as it happens rather than saving it all for a report.

Our philosophy

Children learn best when they feel safe, encouraged, and understood. Therapy should celebrate progress, both big and small.

Every child develops differently, and success looks different for every family. Our role is to meet children where they are today while helping them build the skills they'll need tomorrow.

How we work

Four things shape every session, whatever a child is working on.

Play-based

Play is how children learn, so it's how we work. Sessions look like play because that's what makes the skills stick.

Evidence-informed

Assessments, goals, and treatment approaches are grounded in current occupational therapy practice, not guesswork.

Individualized

Every plan of care is built around one child's strengths, needs, goals, and daily routines. No two look alike.

Collaborative

Goals are set with your family, not for it. We ask questions, share what we're seeing, and decide together.

Shannon

Owner and Occupational Therapist

Hi! I'm Shannon, an occupational therapist, educator, mom to three energetic boys, and the owner of Little Pines Pediatric Therapy.

I graduated from the University of Texas Medical Branch's Occupational Therapy Program in 2016. Since then, I've had the opportunity to work with incredible children and families, helping kids develop the skills they need to become more independent and confident. I believe therapy should be individualized, family-centered, and maybe even a little fun.

As both a therapist and a mom, I understand that every milestone matters, every challenge can feel overwhelming, and every small victory is worth celebrating. Raising three active boys has given me a firsthand appreciation for the joys, challenges, and beautifully messy moments of childhood. It reminds me every day that every child develops differently and that supporting families is just as important as supporting the child.

I strive to create a welcoming environment where parents feel heard, encouraged, and confident as we work together toward their child's goals.

I was raised in the Rio Grande Valley (956).

When I'm not at Little Pines, I'm usually juggling sports schedules, teaching Anatomy & Physiology and General Biology online for Grand Canyon University, or trying to keep up with life at home. If you know me, you know I love animals, caffeine, and my newest hobby 3D printing!

I started Little Pines Pediatric Therapy because I wanted families to have access to quality, personalized therapy in an environment where they feel heard and supported. My goal is simple: to help children build confidence, gain independence, and make therapy something they actually enjoy.

I'm so grateful for the opportunity to serve the children and families of Bastrop County and the surrounding communities, and I look forward to partnering with your family as your child grows, learns, and reaches new milestones.
