Feeding Therapy

Helping children build safe, positive mealtime experiences

A baby holds a slice of watermelon with both hands and takes a bite.

We understand that mealtimes can become one of the most stressful parts of the day. Whether your child struggles with accepting new foods, chewing safely, drinking from a cup, or staying seated during meals, our goal is to help make eating a more positive and successful experience.

Our feeding program uses evidence-based, child-centered approaches to support safe feeding skills while respecting each child's individual needs and comfort level. We focus on building trust, reducing anxiety, and developing the skills children need to take part in mealtimes.

Every child progresses at their own pace, and we work closely with families to create practical strategies that carry over into everyday routines at home.

Feeding therapy may help children who experience

  • Difficulty transitioning to age-appropriate foods
  • Limited food variety or extremely selective eating
  • Sensitivity to food textures, temperatures, smells, or appearances
  • Gagging or vomiting during meals
  • Difficulty chewing or managing food safely
  • Delayed self-feeding skills
  • Challenges using utensils or drinking from cups
  • Poor oral motor coordination
  • Oral sensory sensitivities
  • Difficulty remaining seated or engaged during meals
  • Mealtime anxiety or behavioral challenges
  • Feeding difficulties related to developmental delays, neurological conditions, or genetic diagnoses

Recognize your child in this list? That's a good reason to reach out. An evaluation is how we find out whether therapy would help, and sometimes the answer is that everything is on track.

Our feeding therapy approach

Every evaluation begins by understanding your child's feeding history, medical background, sensory preferences, oral motor skills, and family goals.

Treatment may include oral motor skill development, sensory exploration of new foods, gradual food progression, self-feeding independence, cup and straw drinking, safe chewing and food management, positive mealtime routines, caregiver education, and building confidence around food through play.

We believe feeding therapy should never be rushed. Building trust is often the first and most important step toward long-term success.

Family involvement matters

Parents and caregivers are essential members of the therapy team. We provide education, coaching, and practical home recommendations so families can confidently support feeding progress outside of therapy sessions.
