Infant Development

Supporting your baby's first milestones

A baby pushes up onto their hands during tummy time on a folded towel, beaming at the camera.

The first year of life is filled with incredible growth. During this time, babies develop the foundational skills needed for movement, play, feeding, communication, and learning.

At Little Pines, we partner with families to support infants who may be experiencing developmental delays, feeding challenges, motor difficulties, or sensory differences. Early intervention can make a meaningful difference by helping babies build the skills they need during these critical months.

Our sessions are nurturing, play-based, and family-centered, with caregivers actively involved in every step of the process.

Infant occupational therapy may help with

  • Developmental delays
  • Torticollis and head-turn preference
  • Plagiocephaly (flat head syndrome)
  • Feeding and bottle-feeding challenges
  • Breastfeeding support, in collaboration with lactation consultants
  • Oral motor development
  • Tongue and lip tie concerns, before and after release
  • Difficulty tolerating tummy time
  • Delayed rolling, reaching, or grasping
  • Sensory regulation
  • Visual tracking and visual development
  • Midline development
  • Hand opening and reaching
  • Prematurity and NICU follow-up
  • Neurological diagnoses and genetic conditions

Recognize your child in this list? That's a good reason to reach out. An evaluation is how we find out whether therapy would help, and sometimes the answer is that everything is on track.

Our infant therapy approach

Every baby develops at their own pace. Our evaluations focus on understanding your child's strengths, developmental milestones, medical history, movement patterns, feeding abilities, and family goals.

Treatment may include developmental positioning, tummy time progression, fine motor development, sensory integration, oral motor intervention, feeding support, visual tracking activities, parent coaching, home exercise programs, and developmental play.

Our goal is to help babies develop confidence through movement while giving parents practical strategies they can use every day.

Parents are the most important part of therapy

Parents know their baby better than anyone. The greatest progress happens when therapy continues beyond the clinic, so every session includes education, coaching, and home recommendations to help families feel confident supporting their child's development throughout the week.
